As the snow begins to melt away and winter’s days become numbered, we have already begun preparing for warmer weather. How are we welcoming spring this year? Spring cleaning, of course. Focusing on the little things that sometimes get overlooked is a priority, so we have put blind cleaning at the top of our list. You don’t have to be Mary Poppins to get your blinds in like-new condition. Below, we have compiled a list of tips that can be easily integrated into any cleaning routine.
Blind Cleaning Basics:
Yes, you read that right. Unlike carpets and wood floors that become dirtier the more they are trafficked, blinds become less dusty the more they are used. Whether you have motorized or manual blinds, regular up-and-down movement keeps large composites of dust from amounting. How easy is that? The first step of blind cleaning is something you’re probably already doing!
Nope, we aren’t talking about the boy band sensation. Just as the name suggests, you will want to wipe down your blinds in one direction. For the best results, we recommend using a lint-free cloth and gently wiping each blade. As you do this, hold the blade in place, remaining careful to not apply too much pressure.
At Halcyon Shades, we take pride in tending to the little details. When it comes to your home or business, you should, too. Looking for a way to remove smudges from popsicle-laden fingerprints or even water splash-up that landed on your blinds? A dab of Isopropyl alcohol — not to be substituted with rubbing alcohol — or acetone will do the trick. Simply apply a small amount to the stained area and lightly move your lint-free cloth along the blade.
