The President of the company, Jane Quartel, attended St. Louis University (SLU) for her MBA, and this year is celebrating 25 years of its Center for Entrepreneurship. In October of 2009 Habitata Building Products / Halcyon Shades was presented with a Business of the Year award from the Mayor Francis Slay on behalf of the City of St. Louis. While we certainly appreciate being acknowledged, we would do what we do even if nobody noticed.

Awarded Wins State Workforce Award (June 2012)Habitata Building Products / Halcyon Shades received another award from the State of Missouri. The award was presented at the 2012 Missouri Association of Workforce Development (MAWD) Conference, held at the Tan-Tar-A Resort by the Lake of the Ozarks. The specific award, titled “Small Employer Partnership Award”, was given due to our close relationship with SLATE or St. Louis Agency of Training and Employment. We hire most of our employees through this agency that assists difficult-to-place people. We have hosted two network events for SLATE over the years to market their resources to our business community. SLATE understands the type of people we hire and we have found their relationship to be invaluable. Awarded the Flag of Freedom Award (March 2012)
On March 2, 2012, Halcyon Shades was honored with the Flag of Freedom Award by Governor Jay Nixon of Missouri for its hiring practices and participation in the Show-Me Heroes initiative. The Show-Me Heroes initiative was established over two years ago to reach out to Missouri's veterans and help them reconnect with meaningful careers. The day was commemorated in the additional honor of Mayor Slay of St. Louis, Missouri bestowing a Proclamation that March 2nd will be known as Halcyon Flag of Freedom Award Day.
